is a play about losing your place in the world.
It features a FATHER
and a SON, each forced
prematurely into retirement from their chosen professions, coping
in very different ways: One takes to his pup tent with a typewriter
and some memories, and the other takes to the woods to show the
field mice who's boss;
It features a dutiful MOTHER,
yanked from her comfortable home in the suburbs and transplanted
to the wilderness, where she is pushed to commit sabotage and covert
reupholstering;
It features a DAUGHTER
in sensible shoes, freshly removed from her job as a palliative
care nurse and carrying the burden of a terrible secret that threatens
to tear apart the whole family;
And, finally, it features the WIDOWER
NEXT DOOR, with plenty of secrets of his own buried in the unlikeliest
of places.
